Avocado Toast w/wild onion blossoms
Hello my friends,
There are many versions of avocado toast, and most are really good. Today, I wanted to share my Mrs. Colonial’s Kitchen recipe for Avocado Toast w/Wild Onion Blossoms.
I was recently touring the property here at the farm with an expert in everything plants, both garden center variety and wild. We came across a large swath of wild plants with white blossoms.
There, in a shaded location beneath beautiful oak trees between Mrs. Colonial and the new Taj Ma Garage, was a large amount of ONIONS? This property has surprised and delighted me in a lot of ways since moving here, however, I would have never guessed we had our own plot of wild onions.
Jessica, my plant expert, suggested this variety was appropriate for human consumption. Needless to say, I was excited to give them a try.
I shared a photo of my toast on Instagram a couple of days ago and a few people reached out to me for the recipe, so I decided to put it into printed recipe form to start off my series of Mrs. Colonial’s Kitchen original recipes. I’m not sure you will all have a supply of wild onions, however, you can easily substitute any sprouts you will find at any Whole Foods Market. Our motto here in Mrs. Colonial's Kitchen is to Create, Enjoy, Share. To increase the recipe simply double all the ingredients for two, triple for three, etc. Enjoy!
