An Exterior Before & After - Holiday Style

Hello Phenomenal Farmers!

I've always loved a good old fashioned tale of home renovations via before & after photos, and just a few days ago as I was scattering some holiday cheer around the exterior of our home, I decided I would write a post combining the two. Please enjoy this short tour of Mrs. Colonial's transformation infused with a few hints of holiday cheer.

My first step was to add some seasonal foliage to pots at the front entrance. Did I ever tell you our architect suggested we remove the portico and replace it with a single height porch with a shed style roof? I'm so glad we didn't listen.

I really thought I would start and end my exterior holiday decorating this year with plant material, however, this entrance is so charming that it was almost begging me to continue adding.

The moment I saw these candy cane seat cushions, I knew these benches would be the perfect place for them to rest their little striped selves.

BEFORE

AFTER

Do you see the fog on the windows? It's real and it adds to the Christmas vibe.

The kitchen window with its window box will soon have a new awning. It will be the finishing touch to this side facade and will add the appropriate scale to make this new Sierra Pacific window hold its own among the character and beauty of the refurbished original windows.

Like everything I seem to do these days, I kept it simple. I added some more plant material in small baskets, and then dropped in a few ornaments in keeping with my traditional color scheme.
