Snatched From The Claws of a Developer

Hello my faithful farm followers. Welcome back!

I wanted to show you around the farm a bit today. This Colonial home sits on a beautiful chunk of land that is the last of it’s kind in Sonoma County - 37 acres within city limits and less than five minutes from the nearest shopping center. It’s also adjacent to hundreds of acres of city and state parks encompassing all kinds of activities on trails and lakes (Annadel State Park, Spring Lake Regional Park, Howarth Park). When it was put up for sale it was marketed toward developers - I think the seller’s agent believed no family would be crazy enough to tackle such a huge project on their own, and the location gives it ideal development potential.

Our original offer on the property was rejected, so we walked away. Many months went by as we were immersed in life and all of it’s rewards and challenges. However, I just couldn't shake the feeling that we needed to pursue this property. In August, I contacted the seller’s agent to see if the property was still available. It was, but a big time developer had just put in their third offer and the sellers were poised to accept. It appeared the property was going under the knife (they had plans to build 60 to 70 homes on it). I felt so strongly I had to save it so I contacted my enthusiastic, super awesome agent, Catherine Andrews of Pacific Union. Together we got bold, and in the 11th hour, SUCCESS! Our offer was accepted. With an escrow taking many long months and hurdles and roadblocks to overcome, we did it - we’re on our way. Here are some photos to give you your first glimpse of this beautiful property and the potential it holds.

I'm so happy to share this little piece of paradise with you, and I hope you enjoyed your visit today.

Much love to you all for following along!
