Well, I wish I was bubbling with excitement, quickly typing with jubilee, expressing in words how joyful it is to announce we've received the green light for construction to begin. However, the fat farm animal is NOT singing! Our adventure with the city is not over. It has only intensified!
On a positive note, I do have some activity on the farm to share with you.
It's a story of a tree and me . . . a kind of a love/hate relationship. There was a Deodar Cedar tree planted near the right front corner of Mrs. Colonial way back when construction had just rapped up in 1951. It was a huge tree with magnificence as its potential that anchored the house to its pedestal on the ridge. Over the years it was neglected, just like everything else on the farm. The tree did its part, but the gardener, not so much! It had developed into a ratty mess on the side that faced the house, and during this last winter, its needles did quite a number on the flat roof over the portico turning it into a twelve inch deep pool that almost came crashing down. So after getting the tree inspected, the decision was made that it needed to come down, and bunch of guys with their saws and cranes came rolling in.
It went from this:
It's quite shocking to drive up the driveway now and not see the tree, but I love it. From the future music room you now have a beautiful view over the pasture to the tree covered hill beyond. I can almost see my future horses grazing!
If you're local and you are looking to hire a tree service, I would highly recommend Image Tree Service. I've worked with them on several projects, and they've done a great job for me every time!
Back to my home renovation adventure.
My architect and I addressing some details.
Anybody who has tackled a home renovation project knows how stressful it can be. So, I'm starting a new series called "Renovation Diary". The idea is, I'll keep my sanity and unload my stress by writing about the status on the farm, and you'll be kept informed of where our project stands - a win, win! I may send these diary entries by themselves, or I may include them in a post. We'll see how it goes. To get us started, please find below your first official edition of my interior design and home RENOVATION DIARY!
From time-to-time, if you haven't heard from me and you're wondering,"WHAT'S HAPPENING LADY?", you can go to my website at RockHavenFarm.com and see my latest diary entry under the DIARY tab.
No matter how this Interior Design & Home Renovation adventure plays out, it's going to be an awesome project with a beautiful result. I just want to get the real party started!
